Floods hit Chiang Mai north - Chiang Mai Post - Chiang Mai - Thailand - Flood

Flood hits the northern province of Chiang Mai on August 29 with continuous rain for consecutive days triggering flash floods from Doi Suthep mountain range.

The runoff from Chiang Mai 's most famous mountain flowed into the Chiang Mai municipality areas.  Roads and houses in Sri Ping Muang community were under water, in some areas the water levels were half a metre deep.  Local residents moved their belongings to higher ground.

Pumps were used to drain water from flooded areas, even as the rising water levels in several canals threatened wider disruption.
