Medal winning choir troupe from Payap University returns

At Chiang Mai airport, the Governor was accompanied by Payap University administrators, lecturers, and students who welcomed back the choir from participating at the World Choir Games 2012 which was held during July 4-14, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Held every two years, this contest has 23 categories of competition and this year about 600 choirs from around the world attended.
In 2006, Payap University won the bronze medal at that year’s World Choir Games held in Xiamen, China.
This year’s choir troupe was led by Ajarn Ayu Namtep and Dr Chaipruck Mekara, the dean of Duriyasilp, Payap University.
“This is such an honour for the university and the Chiang Mai community. There are only a few choirs representing Thailand. It was such a wonderful opportunity to attend the event,” noted Dr Chaipruck.
