Sandbags being put in place to forestall flooding

Sandbags had already been laid along the eastern side of the Ping River around the area of Phayakum weir.
The Municipality of Chiang Mai and 40 soldiers from the 33rd Military Circle put up sandbags to heighten the old weir by a further 30cm. These measures have been taken to prevent the river bursting its bank.
Areas of risk are those around Montfort College, the Kawila monument, the Jindasilp housing estate and the outer zone of Pa Prao community. These are low lying areas and are susceptible to flooding.
