Songkran road toll rises to 210 nationwide - Chiang Mai Post - Chiang Mai - Thailand - Travel


A total of 210 people were killed and 2,288 others injured in 2,134 road accidents over the first four days of the "seven dangerous days" of the Songkran holidays, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department reported on Sunday, April 15, 2012.



Nakhon Si Thammarat had the highest number of road fatalities, with eight deaths, followed by Chumphon and Rayong with seven deaths.
The department on Saturday, April 14, 2012 reported the death toll at 114.

Chiang Mai Songkran road toll rises to 5 on April 14

A total of 14 people (10 men, 4 women) were injured, and 5 other people killed in 15 road accidents over the first four days. of the "seven dangerous days" of the Songkran holidays, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department reported on Sunday, April 15, 2012.

The first  accident with three deaths  were identified as Somporn Paboonrak,27, who drove his motorcycle with  Mr Aphiwat Boonpan, 21, and Mr  Sarawut  Tharat, 23, who seated behind him  along the Chotna road in Fang district, where  they were hit by a pickup truck.

The other accident with two deaths were identified as Mr Sarawut Kampan, who drove his motorcycle with a woman seated behind him.  They were hit by a car while driving along a road in Ban Sanklang, Chiang Mai.

It was reported  that  so far,  the number  of  road fatalities  has been  55  for the first four days  with  58 people were  injured  ( 43  men, 15 were women )  and 6 other were killed ( 5 men, 1 woman) with 45 motorcycles mostly  got the accidents.
